Rest Your Head tincture - a gentle, yet potent blend to help you get to sleep and stay asleep without that foggy hangover the next morning. I've been loving this support during my perimenopause and menopause irregular sleep cycle! I keep it by my bedside and take an hour or so before sleep. I'm able to drift off easily and sleep soundly.
This blend has been in the works for years. I wanted something that wouldn't be too strong, but just the perfect mix of plant friends to support the sometimes illusive good night's rest. Valerian flower is used instead of the root. I have found the root is a bit too powerful for use on a regular basis and the flower has the same benefits, but doesn't knock you out as strongly (but I am considering a blend with the root in the future for those with the need for a different solution).
Valerian flower is one of the first to bloom in the June garden and the butterflies go wild for it!! I have watched a butterfly spend hours and hours fluttering from bloom to bloom - and imagining how mellowed out they must get. And the stalks get so high - towering over me and creating such a powerful visual with their bright white flowers.
Lavender, anise hyssop and catnip round it out with their both relaxing and calming properties and taste. Our household loves the taste of this tincture straight up.
All tinctures made with freshly gathered plants - which were either grown from seed or ethically wildcrafted in the Catskills. Using fresh plants results in a well-balanced, higher potency tincture than using dry herbs. The plants were infused into alcohol (vodka or brandy) for at least 2 moon cycles (at least 8 weeks). The plants were then strained from the alcohol and the alcohol retained both the water-soluble and alcohol-soluble properties of the plants.
As with all herbs, research and seek guidance before use.
HOW DO I USE IT?
Tinctures can be used for immediate action, but typically working with a plant over a period of time will result in greater benefit. You can put the tincture directly in your mouth or it might be more pleasant to add to a small glass of water or other beverage given the sometimes strong alcohol taste.
Start small with a half dropperful or so. Up to 30 drops can be taken 1-3 x per day.
