Upcoming Workshops

I just added a Botanical Printing: Natural Dyeing (also known as eco-dyeing or bundle dyeing) workshop in August. We had such a great time dyeing with mugwort in July and I have such a great time bundle dyeing the Cosmic Mother bags, I wanted to share that process and the flowers that make that possible with you. This isn't a natural dyeing class per se, as we steam the flower saturated bundles we create in order for the color to transfer. It's so so fun and easy and miraculous and I couldn't think of a better way to spend a summer Sunday afternoon.

We complete our 'Meeting Mugwort Through the Seasons' with a Smoke Medicine workshop in September. This is for your if you have a yard full of mugwort. This is for you if you want an alternative to sage and palo santo. This is for you if you want to learn how to work with your local plants.

As one of the most abundant plant allies around us, let's tune in and hear what mugwort has to say. There must be a reason this crone of the plant kingdom is everywhere we turn. As I sat to put together these workshops, it was difficult to limit it to just three, but let's start there. In each workshop you will learn so much more than what's written in the description as you develop your own relationship with this sacred plant. These afternoons together will be hands-on and immersive experiences. This is the least I could do to honor her and the healing she has provided me in my time here.

Please note that the pricing for the workshops is on a tiered basis. You can see the Green Bottle page for the definitions of the tier you are in and self-select the price that corresponds with your tier. All tiers receive the same experience and materials.

Botanical Printing: Natural Dyeing

August 23

1-4pm

I have been bundle dyeing the bags for Cosmic Mother for a few years now. And it's such a delight to be with the garden, with the petals and create beautiful artistic pieces. This process is about placing (or scattering) flowers and other natural materials onto a textile, rolling it up and then steaming it. You never really know exactly what you'll get and that's part of the fun!

There will be tea and snacks. You'll go home with a few small cotton bags that you dyed with different plant combinations. The bags will be prepped in advance to ensure the best possible print.

Meeting Mugwort in September

Smoke Medicine

Sept 13

1-4pm

One of my very favorite ways to work with mugwort is through crafting smudge sticks. Mugwort is protective and perfect for smudging.

We will bundle our own smudge sticks working with mugwort and other flowers and herbs that may be around at this time. We will experiment with grinding dried mugwort for burning on charcoal, talk about the history of mugwort in moxabustion, and also discuss benefits of smoking mugwort.

There will be tea and snacks. You will take home mugwort bundles that we make together.

Natural Dyeing

July 19
